NOEL WHITTINGHAM, a self-taught artist born in rural St. Ann. Growing up around nature in its finest, he developed a keen eye for rustic scenes and landscaping. He began painting professionally since 1994 where he has, since then served in varying art related positions at some of the north coast’s finest hotels. He served as art coordinator at the Breezes, Runaway Bay Hotel over the years of 1989-1994. Twhile there, he went on to win the inaugural young artist of the year competition in 1994, which was organized by the St. Ann Library and sponsored by the Eagle Merchant Bank.

Noel’s preferred medium is acrylic on canvas and as his inspiration comes mainly from God’s grandeur, they often depict stories of life in rural Jamaica. He has also done pieces that maintain a historical aura, that capture a moment in time. One such piece is “Town Center”- St. Ann’s Bay. His work captures the brilliance of vibrant colours in Jamaican landscape reflecting the peace, tranquillity and warmth that Jamaica has forever been known for.

Noel has exhibited at several hotels along the north coast and has participated in several group exhibitions and a number of solo exhibitions as well. One of his strong points is his attention to details which has earned him the respect, love and admiration of corporate collectors both locally and internationally. He has now opened an art studio of his own, Whitty's Studio & Gallery.
